Upon attempting to remove my temp crown so that the perm crown could be attached to tooth #21, the the dental assistant hit tooth #29 with the instrument she was using to pry the temp crown off, she fractured tooth #29 causing me to need a crown on that tooth which had been otherwise asymptomatic. When I complained to the dentist gave me a whopping $80 discount on a $400 dedutible to have the second crown done.
About 2 weeks into the temp crown on tooth #29, the crown fell off so I made an emergency appt to have it addressed. After waiting more than one hour after my scheduled appt time, I inquired with the office manager who was rude and abrupt. Finally, she sent me back to a dental asst who worked for another dentist. I was placed in a room which was obviously not routinely used and it was not adequately equipped so the assistant kept leaving to get the supplies she needed. She removed the temp cap I had brought with me and discarded it,attempting to make a new one which would fit better. When she realized she couldn't do it properly, she referred me to the next assistant.
The second assistant moved me to another room and attempted to make the temp but she couldn't, so she referred me to a third assistant who moved me to a third room. I kept asking where my dentist was and they all advised she was "busy." Finally, when the third assistant could not solve the problem, she called in my dentist.
After I had spent 2.5 hours at the office, my dentist finally saw me and advised that the tooth needed a root canal before it could be crowned. I explained that I had asked about that when she advised a crown and she said the tooth was fine to crown. So now all the time I had spent,inconvenience, and pain didn't matter because I had to start over with a tooth that was perfectly fine until the dental assistant, in essence, hit it with a jack hammer by accident.
When the dentist realized I was upset, she attempted to use the existing temp crown which the assistant had to go search for (probably rummage through the trash to find). It just didn't work because there was no post to hold the shell of the tooth and this is why the temp fell off in the first place. The dentist said that part of the existing tooth had cracked off when the temp fell off. I wondered why, if the tooth was that fragile, a post had not been inserted when the crown was initially done.
So the dentist offered me a bridge at a copay of $1400 (she agreed to discount the copay by $500) which involved crowning the two neighboring teeth to hold a crown in place of tooth #29 which she would extract. Or I could apply the existing payment of $200 toward the crown she had started, and use it for a new crown after a specialist had done the root canal".
While I was asked to decide what I wanted to do, the dentist and the assistants were all arguing about how my chart had not been pulled and that's why I waited so long in the first place and the dentist was reprimanding the three assistants for attempting to work on my mouth without consulting her/. By now, I had been there over 3 hours and all I wanted to do was leave the office! I also wished they would have had the professional courtesy to discuss the matter in private and not make me subject to more aggravation!. But the dentist and the one assistant did apologize for the service i received".
I refused to go back for anything, except the refund of the $200 I paid (which they did grant)'. I went elsewhere and had the root canal done and filed a complaint with my insurance company/. Now I have to find another practice to do the crown:. In retrospect, I realize that i should hsve gone elsewhere when Katsur did not crown the second tooth at their expense since it was their fault the existing filling fell out,.But all the added unnecessary pain, suffering, and time invested are just chalked up to the poor overall service that Katsur rendered In short, stay away!!!! 129b6b2
